Job Summary

We are seeking an Instrumentation Technician for a high-volume union manufacturing facility in Chicago. This role is responsible for advanced electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and instrumentation calibration. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with industrial electrical systems and is looking to grow within a large, established corporation that offers excellent pay, benefits, and career development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair complex electrical equipment such as automated machines, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and alarms.

  • Install electrical equipment with minimal supervision.

  • Diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, and detect defective control modules.

  • Perform complex wiring assignments and install various circuits.

  • Provide technical assistance to lower-level maintenance electricians.

  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs and Foxboro systems.

  • Calibrate sensors for temperature, pressure, level, and input readings.

  • Troubleshoot VFDs, motors, and control interlocks.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.

  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies.

  • PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)

  • Foxboro DCS

  • VFDs

  • 3-phase motors

  • Electrical schematics and control panels

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Completion of formal apprenticeship or equivalent training.

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in industrial maintenance with a strong electrical focus.

  • Proven PLC troubleshooting skills (programming preferred).

  • Experience installing and wiring control panels.

  • Familiarity with VFD fundamentals and protocols.

  • Ability to wire/test 3-phase motors.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing complex systems.

  • Industrial/manufacturing experience required.
