Shift: 1st Shift – 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM CST
Work Environment: Air-conditioned shop

Position Overview:

A leading company in the industrial manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Machinist for their 1st shift operations. This role involves operating a variety of manual and CNC machines, including mills, lathes, grinders, and horizontal boring machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining processes, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision parts.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and route sheets to complete jobs.

  • Maintain close tolerances (up to .0005”) during machining processes.

  • Machine both raw and previously machined components according to specifications.

  • Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect finished parts.

  • Follow safety protocols, job checklists, and machining procedures.

  • Communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineering staff as needed.

  • Support continuous improvement by fabricating custom tooling and hardware.

  • Work efficiently within established timeframes for each task.

  • Maintain clean and organized work area and tools.

  • Comply with all attendance, safety, and productivity policies.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 2 years of CNC setup and programming experience (CNC HBM preferred).

  • Experience with manual machining equipment.

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Must own a personal set of tools, including micrometers, hand grinders, and toolbox.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move components as needed.

  • Solid communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with machining metals like stainless steels (300/400 series), Inconel, and carbon steel.

  • Prior experience in a service or repair environment for rotating equipment.

  • Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.

  • Experience fabricating tooling or custom parts for job-specific needs.
