Job Summary
We are hiring an experienced Manual Machinist for a contract-to-hire position at Flolo Corporation in West Chicago, IL. This role involves setting up and operating manually controlled machines to fabricate, modify, and repair equipment and tooling. Candidates should have strong blueprint reading and measurement skills and be able to work independently in a precision-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Set up and operate manual machines including engine lathes, milling machines, and drill presses
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
• Select, align, and secure tools, fixtures, and materials for machining tasks
• Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators) to ensure specifications
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work areas clean
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Estimate time and materials needed for assignments
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
• Adhere to safety procedures and wear required PPE
• Ensure completed work meets customer and quality standards
Machinery/Equipment Used
• Engine lathes
• Milling machines
• Drill presses
• Broaching tools (keyway, spline, surface)
• Arbor press (preferred)
• Precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators)
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5–7 years of manual machining experience
• Ability to read blueprints and operate manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and broaching tools
• Familiarity with metals and their machinability
• Welding experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
